My Hummingbird Feeder!

Hello, bloggers. I just put up a hummingbird feeder in my backyard, so the hummingbirds can have a treat. Lots of hummingbirds enjoy sucking the sugar water in the feeder. The recipe for the sugar water is: water (any amount), sugar (any amount), then boil it, finally put it in the fridge where it will cool, and there you have it! After making the sugar water, put it in the feeder, hang it on a tree, and wait for the hummingbirds to come. After looking at the hummingbirds that came to my feeder, I saw that they came in various colors, such as: green, blue, red, orange, purple, gray, brown, and black. The sugar water was so good that the other hummingbirds would peck each other so that they could sip the water. These are very interesting birds, because they come in lots of cool colors, they're little, they flap their wings really fast, and they have long beaks. Do you have a hummingbird feeder? I hope you liked my post. Please leave a comment.

  1. Dear Nick,

How nice to see that you are blogging again! Love it!

Now that the weather is warmer, I am seeing more hummingbirds in my backyard. Remember the little hummingbird that Mr. Yollis and I rescued? Here is a link: Baby Hummingbird Released

The photos are great! Did you or someone in your family take them?

  2. Hi Nick. I like how you noticed how hummingbirds are alike and different! My wife loves to feed the little birds, too ;) I live near Mt. Shasta and it's just starting to warm up. I'm sure they will start showing up any time. I like the pictures you used. They really make your post come alive with the words you wrote. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. I'll bet you wish you could fly like that when you are playing soccer!

  3. All about birds is a great website from Cornell. You might be able to use it to identify what species come to your feeders. You got some amazing shots of the hummingbirds. :)

The best recipe to use is 1 part sugar, 4 parts water. An easy way to remember it is to think of your hand. One thumb = sugar, four fingers = water.

We don't get Hummingbirds here in New Zealand so I was amazed to see your photographs and read your description, I have only ever seen them on TV or in photographs it seems amazing that you have them just in your backyard. Fascinating.
